Lahore High Court Overturns Triple Death Sentence Due to Flawed Prosecution and Investigation

Lahore: The Lahore High Court has acquitted a convict previously sentenced to death three times in a triple murder case, citing poor prosecution and flawed investigation.
According to the report, a two-member bench comprising Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhary and Justice Tariq Nadeem acquitted the accused, Maisar Hussain, who had been sentenced to death three times by a trial court.
Maisar Hussain was charged in 2018 with the murder of three individuals — Niaz Ahmed, Ahmed Niaz, and their driver Faiz. In 2021, the trial court had handed down three death sentences to him.
The High Court, however, found significant lapses in the investigation and prosecution, leading to the overturning of the verdict and the release of the accused. This case highlights growing concerns over the quality of criminal investigations and prosecution in serious cases.
