5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Islamabad, Peshawar and Northern Areas

Islamabad: Moderate earthquake tremors were felt across several cities in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, causing brief panic among residents.

According to the seismic monitoring authorities, tremors were also recorded in Swat, Hangu, North Waziristan, and Chitral.

The earthquake measured 5.5 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 199 kilometers. Its epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region, which is known for frequent seismic activity.

No casualties or property damage have been reported so far, officials said, adding that the situation is being monitored.
