Former SCBA President Condemns “Hostile Rhetoric” Against Balochistan High Court

Quetta: Former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, Amanullah Kanrani, has strongly criticized what he described as “hostile and malicious statements” being issued in the name of the Balochistan Bar Council against the Balochistan High Court.
In a statement released in Quetta, Kanrani alleged that an individual or a small group is misusing the Bar Council’s name to serve personal interests and appease a privileged elite. He claimed that such statements are being issued without convening a formal meeting of the council’s members or following due procedure.
He further alleged that fabricated records and backdated entries are being used to falsely attribute decisions to the Bar Council. According to him, affected opposition members within the council have the legal and moral right to challenge such actions in court.
Kanrani emphasized that when arguments fail, resorting to abusive language and personal attacks reflects poorly on the legal community. He termed such behavior unacceptable and contrary to the traditions and ethical standards of the legal profession.
Highlighting the role of lawyers as officers of the court, he said that adopting extra-judicial methods or undermining judicial proceedings is inappropriate and violates professional discipline as well as established legal ethics and etiquette.
He also referred to respected judges such as A.R. Cornelius, Dorab Patel, K.M.A. Samdani, and Bhagwandas, noting that even during difficult political periods, judicial integrity and decorum were upheld.
Kanrani concluded that while differences of opinion are natural, they must be expressed within legal and ethical boundaries. He stressed that the legal community must uphold professionalism and avoid descending into verbal abuse or misconduct.
