Severe Rain and Hailstorms Flood Low-Lying Areas Across Balochistan, Life Disrupted

Quetta (Daily Qudrat News): Heavy rain and hailstorms have inundated low-lying areas across Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, causing extensive damage to crops, orchards, and solar panels, and severely disrupting daily life.
In Gwadar, stormy rainfall led to water entering homes, increasing difficulties for residents. Roads in Quetta have turned into streams as water accumulates, making transportation difficult and intensifying cold weather conditions. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast additional rainfall until March 30.
The torrential rains over the past few days have impacted several districts including Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Kalat, and Nushki. Storms have caused severe damage to standing crops, orchards, property, and solar installations.
Coastal areas including Gwadar, Jiwani, Sarbendan, Pishkan, Pasni, and Ormara were also hit, submerging neighborhoods like TTC Colony, Bakhshi Colony, Mir Lal Bakhsh Ward, and Jannat Bazaar. Residents used generators and water pumps to drain floodwaters from their homes.
In Quetta, roads including Surki Road, Faqir Muhammad Road, Kowari Road, Imdad Chowk, Gwalamandi Chowk, Shah Zaman Road, Saryab Road, Gahi Khan Chowk, and Joint Road have been heavily waterlogged, causing severe traffic disruptions. The Quetta–Chaman highway (N-25) is affected at multiple points.
Authorities, including the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan and the Meteorological Department, have issued alerts, urging residents to avoid low-lying areas, stay vigilant, and follow official safety instructions.
