Livestock Medicines in Kohlu Sold to Private Stores, Animals Dying Amid Severe Outbreak

Kohlu:In a troubling development, livestock medicines meant for public distribution in Kohlu district are reportedly being diverted and sold in private veterinary stores, leaving local herders and their livestock in crisis. A dangerous disease has begun spreading rapidly among animals, with deaths being reported due to lack of treatment.
According to reliable sources, the Department of Livestock in Kohlu has become increasingly inactive. Medicines that are supposed to reach government veterinary hospitals are allegedly being sold before even arriving in the district, depriving farmers of essential treatment for their livestock.
Locals say that due to the unavailability of medicines at public facilities, cattle and other animals are dying from untreated diseases. Herders, who rely heavily on livestock for their livelihood, are facing immense economic hardship.
Public circles have strongly condemned the alleged corruption and have called on the Deputy Commissioner of Kohlu and higher authorities to take immediate notice. They demand strict legal action against the officials and staff involved in the illegal sale of government-supplied medicines.
The crisis highlights urgent concerns about mismanagement and corruption within local departments, which, if left unchecked, could lead to larger public health and economic challenges in the region.
