Main Suspect in Scooter Rider Mobile Snatching Case Arrested Injured in Lahore

Lahore: Police have arrested the main suspect involved in a mobile phone snatching incident targeting a girl riding a scooter in Lahore. The suspect was taken into custody in injured condition, while his accomplice managed to escape.

According to media reports, the incident took place in the Nawab Town OPF area of Lahore, where the suspects on a motorcycle snatched a mobile phone from a female scooter rider. Police identified the arrested suspect as Adnan Yousaf, who was apprehended from the Chung area after being injured during an encounter.

Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed police to arrest the suspects within eight hours, prompting immediate action.


Police officials said geo-fencing and human intelligence were used to trace the suspects, along with multiple checkpoints set up across the city. According to a DIG Operations spokesperson, the suspects attempted to flee and opened fire when signaled to stop at a checkpoint.

During the exchange of fire, suspect Adnan was injured by a bullet reportedly fired by his own accomplice and fell on the spot, while the other suspect escaped. The injured suspect was arrested and shifted to hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.

Police confirmed that efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing suspect, and he will be apprehended soon. Authorities added that CCTV footage from hundreds of cameras was reviewed during the investigation, with geo-fencing and intelligence inputs playing a key role.

A case has been registered at Chung police station, and further investigation is ongoing.
