FBR Orders Mandatory POS Integration for Registered Businesses Within One Week

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a notification directing all registered shops and businesses to integrate with its tax system within one week.
Under the notification, all businesses operating through Point of Sale (POS) machines must be connected to the FBR’s system. The directive also applies to hotels, guest houses, marriage halls, and clubs, as well as inter-city transport operators, courier companies, and cargo services.
Beauty parlors, slimming centers, beauty clinics, hair transplant centers, private clinics, dental clinics, and plastic surgeons will also be required to register with the FBR and integrate their businesses into the tax network.
According to the notification, laboratories, veterinary clinics, diagnostic and X-ray centers, private hospitals, private consultants, healthcare service providers, health clubs, swimming pools, fitness clubs, and multi-purpose clubs must also comply with the new tax integration requirements.
The FBR further stated that prominent clubs including Karachi Gymkhana, Royal Palm Golf and Country Club, Chenab Club, Islamabad Club, and Lahore Gymkhana will also be brought under the tax system.
Additionally, chartered accountants’ firms and cost and management service providers will be required to integrate into the tax system. Educational institutions charging a monthly fee of Rs1,000 or more — including schools, colleges, and universities — must also comply.
The notification states that integration with the tax system under Section 33 of the Income Tax Ordinance will be a mandatory requirement, and all businesses falling under the directive must install and link POS machines with the FBR system.
