Three Workers Die While Cleaning Sewer in Karachi’s Lyari Area

Karachi: Three labourers lost their lives due to suffocation while cleaning a sewer in Karachi’s Lyari area, officials said on Saturday.

According to reports, the incident took place in Sector 36 of Lyari, where the workers were engaged in sewer cleaning when they reportedly became trapped in toxic gases and died on the spot.

Following the incident, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and sought a detailed report from the relevant authorities.

Officials say investigations are underway into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

It is worth noting that similar incidents have occurred in the past, where sanitation workers lost their lives due to hazardous conditions during sewer cleaning operations, raising repeated concerns over safety measures and protective equipment for sanitation staff.
