ICC Board Meeting on Champions Trophy 2025 Postponed Again Due to India’s Stubbornness

Chairman PCB, Najam Sethi, Had Also Arrived in Dubai for the Meeting

Karachi: The ICC Board meeting regarding the future of the 2025 Champions Trophy has been postponed once again, with no resolution reached due to India’s continued intransigence. Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi, had arrived in Dubai for the meeting, but the session was deferred.
Sources indicate that the meeting is now rescheduled for December 7, 2024, with the expectation that India will provide a response to Pakistan’s position on the matter. The delay occurred due to the Indian board’s failure to offer a reply in time for today’s meeting.
ICC’s new chairman, Jay Shah, reportedly described the session as introductory, but there were high hopes that key decisions regarding the Champions Trophy, including its schedule and other logistical matters, would be made during the meeting. However, it appears that the Indian board has shown no interest in pursuing a partnership or fusion formula for the event.
Interestingly, the issue of India’s refusal to tour Pakistan was not on the meeting’s agenda, despite speculation that it could be discussed as part of broader discussions on bilateral series. The delay now leaves all parties awaiting India’s stance on the tournament’s future.
