Leader Zubair Umar Criticizes Government’s Failures Amid Economic and Governance Crisis

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Zubair Umar, leader of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan, has sharply criticized the government, highlighting the country’s worsening economic and governance situation.

Speaking to the media, Umar said Pakistan’s exports have declined while the trade deficit has surged by 37 percent. He noted that General Sarfraz has admitted that business cannot operate effectively in the country, and a SEFIC official stated that the investment environment is unfavorable. Even the State Bank Governor has reportedly called for a change in government policy. Meanwhile, the Privatization Minister claimed that Pakistan offers investment opportunities, but poor governance deters investors. According to global rankings, Pakistan is placed 109th out of 120 countries in terms of governance.

Umar also pointed out that unemployment has reached its highest level in 21 years. He criticized the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for failing to respond to the IMF’s 5,300 billion rupees corruption report and said the government remains silent on critical issues such as unemployment and poverty. He added that the cost of basic goods, previously priced at 20,000 rupees, has now risen to 50,000 rupees.

Commenting on the recent tragic death of a child who fell into a manhole in Karachi, Umar said, “This is not the first incident. A government that cannot even secure manhole covers cannot be trusted with anything else.”
