Good News for Citizens Troubled by Mobile Phone Taxes

Islamabad (Daily Qudrat): Citizens fed up with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) extraordinary and heavy taxes on mobile phones have finally been given major relief in the form of easy installments.
Pakistan Peoples Party Member of the National Assembly Qasim Gilani, in a statement issued on social media while reciting Alhamdulillah, stated that he has secured a significant change in the procedure of heavy taxes imposed on imported smartphones for the convenience of the public. Additionally, there has also been a reduction of approximately Rs 18,000 in the tax under the head of regulatory duty.
Alhamdulillah, after almost two years of struggle, we have managed to secure some relief for smartphone users who have been struggling with exorbitant taxes on imported smartphones.

Qasim Gilani wrote that in the past, smartphone users had to pay a heavy PTA tax ranging from one hundred thousand rupees to two hundred and fifty thousand rupees in a lump sum to use their mobile phones, which had become completely beyond the reach of the common citizen. Under the new achievement, users will no longer need to pay this heavy amount all at once; instead, they will now be able to use their phones by paying their PTA tax in easy monthly installments ranging from merely Rs 8,000 to Rs 17,000.
اس کے علاوہ ریگولیٹری ڈیوٹی (RD) کی مد میں ٹیکس میں بھی تقریباً 18 ہزار روپے کی کمی ہوئی ہے۔ https://t.co/XazKcRC7uL

He said that in the age of technology, smartphones and the internet have now become basic necessities. Extraordinary taxation on them had been severely distressing young people and professionals economically. God willing, we will not stop at just this relief; we will regularly continue our constitutional and political struggle to secure further concessions for the public in the field of technology and digital devices, and further facilities and relief in the future.
