Government Completely Failed to Protect Citizens’ Lives and Property: PKMAP

QUETTA: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) has strongly condemned the recent blast in Hanna Urak, the killing of Ibrahim Durrani on the Quetta-Karachi highway in Kalat, the killing of trader Ashraf Khan Achakzai in Chaman, and the murder of contractor Manan Khan in Qila Saifullah.

In a provincial press statement, the party said the so-called “Form 47 government” could not restore the writ of the state through mere assurances. It said incidents of vehicle snatching, extortion, arson and killings had made life increasingly insecure for the people of Pashtun-majority areas.

The party said a vehicle travelling towards Wali Tangi in Hanna Urak was again targeted with explosives, leaving two people dead and three others injured. It recalled that Riyaz Kakar had also been killed in an earlier incident in the same area, while his family was still awaiting justice.

PKMAP said the government had completely failed to protect the lives and property of citizens. It questioned claims about the restoration of the state’s writ, saying that such statements amounted to misleading the public.

The party also questioned the performance of security forces, noting that billions of rupees were allocated annually from public funds, while hundreds of checkpoints, modern surveillance cameras and roadblocks had been established. Despite searches of citizens and long queues at checkpoints, it said, the authorities had failed to establish peace and security.

The party said the Quetta-Karachi highway, once notorious for fatal traffic accidents, had now become increasingly dangerous due to deteriorating law and order, crime, kidnapping, killings, robberies and attacks by armed groups.

PKMAP said law and order had deteriorated across southern Pashtunkhwa and other districts of Balochistan, alleging that armed groups were holding citizens hostage and subjecting them to looting and violence.

The party condemned all the incidents and demanded immediate and effective measures to restore peace and ensure the protection of the lives and property of all citizens.

PKMAP also expressed solidarity with the families affected by the incidents and conveyed its condolences over their losses.
