US Congressman Suhas Subramanyam Calls for End to Iran War, Urges Focus on Cost of Living

WASHINGTON:Democratic Congressman Suhas Subramanyam has called for an end to the war with Iran, arguing that US taxpayers’ money should instead be spent on reducing the cost of essential goods, improving healthcare and making housing more affordable.

In an interview with Geo News, Subramanyam said the conflict should be brought to an end so that public funds could be directed towards addressing domestic challenges facing American citizens.

The congressman, who is seeking re-election in Virginia, said Democrats would prioritise the needs of the American people if they won the election.

### Concerns Over Immigration Policies

Subramanyam criticised the Trump administration’s actions against legal immigrants, saying that people who had been working in the United States on work visas for 20 years were still not being granted green cards.

He also highlighted difficulties in securing visa appointments at US embassies and consulates, saying the immigration system needed comprehensive reforms.

The Democratic lawmaker further said he did not want Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to exceed its legal authority.

Subramanyam called for a comprehensive overhaul of the US immigration system to address longstanding problems affecting legal immigrants and improve the overall process.
