Sher Afzal Marwat Says PTI Must Keep Family, Murad Saeed Out of Decision-Making to Overcome Political Deadlock

ISLAMABAD:Member of the National Assembly Sher Afzal Marwat has said that the only way to pull Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) out of its current political deadlock is to keep the family and Murad Saeed away from the party’s decision-making process.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Marwat said PTI would be able to stand on its own feet if these individuals were removed from the decision-making process. He added that he had repeatedly warned that the party was heading towards a dead end.
“My relationship with them has ended. They should find solutions to their problems themselves,” he said, adding that he no longer considered it his responsibility to resolve the party’s internal issues.
Marwat said overcoming the political impasse did not simply mean replacing a chief minister, stressing that the party needed to address deeper problems within its leadership and decision-making structure.
### Marwat Expresses Support for Shandana Gulzar
Commenting on Shandana Gulzar, Marwat said he disliked hearing criticism of her because he regarded her as a sister. He acknowledged that Gulzar had her own reservations and said he expected Ali Amin Gandapur not to upset her.
He also questioned the benefits of the leaked audio recordings attributed to Gandapur, asking what anyone was gaining from their circulation.
“Fame is not something a person needs beyond a certain point,” he remarked.
Marwat claimed that he knew certain individuals responsible for what he described as these disgraceful acts, although he did not identify them publicly.
### Lack of Courage Within PTI
Marwat said PTI’s biggest problem was a lack of courage among its members, arguing that many avoided speaking the truth for fear of upsetting someone within the party.
He said party members should speak openly about the issues facing PTI rather than remain silent to avoid displeasing others.
“If the party itself does not survive, why should anyone worry about upsetting someone?” he asked.
Reiterating that he had warned about the party’s direction, Marwat said he had decided to distance himself because he felt that respect and dignity were absent from his relationship with the party leadership.
### Calls for Scanner Systems at Islamabad Checkpoints
Separately, Marwat expressed concern over the difficulties faced by citizens because of checkpoints across Islamabad.
He questioned why the government was not using advanced scanning systems that could detect explosives or narcotics inside vehicles from a distance.
He suggested that such technology could also be installed at toll plazas to improve security while reducing inconvenience for the public.
