Power Outage Hits Quetta and 10 Districts After 220kV Transmission Line Fault

A fault in the 220kV transmission line supplying electricity from Uch to Quetta has caused a major power outage, disrupting electricity supply to Quetta and ten districts across Balochistan.

According to a spokesperson for K-Electric Supply Company (KESCO), the 220kV Uch–Quetta transmission line tripped at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Friday, resulting in the suspension of power supply to Quetta, Nasirabad, Sibi, Bolan, Mastung, Nushki, Chagai, Pishin, Ziarat, and Chaman.

The spokesperson said efforts are underway to restore electricity through alternative transmission lines connected via Khuzdar and Loralai in order to minimize the impact on consumers.

The same transmission line had also experienced a disruption between Thursday and Friday, remaining out of service for nearly three hours before power was restored.

Technical teams are investigating the latest fault and working to bring the affected areas back online as quickly as possible.
