Repair of Blast-Damaged Gas Pipeline in Kachhi Still Delayed After Five Days

QUETTA:Repair work on an 18-inch-diameter Sui gas pipeline damaged in a blast near Dhadar in Balochistan’s Kachhi district has yet to begin, five days after the incident.
According to officials of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the pipeline was damaged by an explosion in the Dhadar area on August 12.
Officials said repair work has been delayed because the district administration has not yet issued the required security clearance.
As a result, restoration work on the damaged pipeline could not be started even five days after the blast.
Gas supplies to Mastung, Kalat, Pishin, Ziarat and Mach have been suspended, while residents of Sariab, Eastern Bypass and Kuchlak areas of Quetta are facing low gas pressure and interruptions.
The prolonged disruption has caused considerable difficulties for consumers in the affected areas.
