Madrassas Are Our Red Line; Despite Spending Billions, Government Institutions Are in Bad Shape While Religious Institutions Are Building Character: Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan Provincial Ameer Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has said that madrassas are our red line; those hatching conspiracies should give the nation an account of their own educational institutions that run on billions of rupees. Madrassas are Pakistan’s religious, scholarly and cultural identity, where, along with the teaching of the Quran and Sunnah, the training and service of millions of children is carried out. He said that spreading negative impressions against the religious education system to win the approval of the West and America is against the requirements of justice and responsibility. Efforts to cast doubt on the services of madrassas and scholars are unacceptable under any circumstances.
He said that religious madrassas have always played an important role in promoting Islamic values, brotherhood, peace and moral training, and those associated with them have also continued to be targets of terrorism. Responsible government figures should keep facts and responsibility in mind when speaking on sensitive matters, and instead of levelling allegations against madrassas, they should also ensure transparency regarding the financial resources, expenditures and performance of their own educational institutions. He made clear that the dignity, autonomy and legitimate rights of madrassas will be protected, and no one will be allowed to create mistrust between religious institutions and the people through irresponsible statements. Therefore, the practice of linking religious madrassas to terrorism and creating baseless doubts against them should be stopped.
