Case Registered Against Four, Including Medical Superintendent, Over Alleged Theft of Government Medicines in Hub

HUB: Police have registered a criminal case against four individuals, including the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the 50-bed Social Security Hospital in Hub, over the alleged theft and unauthorized transfer of government medicines.

According to reports, a large quantity of government-owned medicines was allegedly being transported from the 50-bed Social Security Hospital to a private medical store in Hub City using an official hospital ambulance on Tuesday.

The alleged transfer came to light after journalists alerted the district administration and Hub City Police, who reached the scene and asked the ambulance driver to produce legal documents authorizing the movement of the medicines. However, the driver reportedly failed to provide any supporting records.

The owner of the private medical store claimed that the Social Security Hospital frequently obtained medicines from his store during emergencies and that the medicines being transported were being returned. However, he was also unable to produce any documentary evidence to support his claim.

Police seized the medicines recovered at the scene and took the ambulance driver, the owner of the private medical store, and other suspects into custody. Subsequently, a case was registered against four individuals, including the Medical Superintendent of the Social Security Hospital, as authorities launched a formal investigation into the matter.

Officials said further legal proceedings are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged unauthorized transfer of government medicines.
