Quetta Police Solve Hashim Naurzai Murder Case, Victim’s Friend Arrested Over Rs1.6 Billion Dispute

Quetta: Quetta police have claimed to have solved the murder of Hashim Naurzai in record time, arresting five suspects, including the alleged mastermind and two individuals accused of conducting surveillance before the attack.
Addressing a press conference, Quetta DIG Imran Shaukat said the prime suspect, Hikmatullah, along with three accomplices, intercepted Hashim Naurzai’s vehicle on the day of the incident. According to the police, Hikmatullah opened fire on the victim and then got out of the vehicle to shoot him again, describing the attack as exceptionally brutal.
The DIG said the investigation had revealed that the murder stemmed from a financial dispute involving Rs1.6 billion (16 crore). He described the case as particularly tragic because the victim was allegedly killed by one of his own friends.
Police said the suspected murder weapon has been recovered on the identification of the arrested suspects. So far, five people, including Hikmatullah, have been taken into custody.
However, Hikmatullah’s brother, Saadullah Naurzai, remains at large, and police said raids are continuing to secure his arrest.
In a further revelation, DIG Imran Shaukat alleged that after the murder, the absconding suspect, Saadullah, attended the victim’s funeral prayers, condolence gatherings, and protest sit-in alongside the bereaved family in an apparent attempt to avoid suspicion.
The DIG praised the Quetta police for conducting a modern, evidence-based investigation and said the case had been brought to a logical conclusion with the arrest of the principal suspects. He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining fugitive.
