Balochistan Government Committed to Sustainable Healthcare Reforms, Says CM Sarfraz Bugti
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the provincial government is taking serious measures to address the challenges facing the healthcare sector and is introducing sustainable and effective reforms in consultation with all stakeholders to improve medical services across the province.
The remarks came during a meeting with a representative delegation of doctors’ organizations at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday. Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Health Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panezai were also present on the occasion.
The delegation included Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Quetta President Dr. Nadeer Achakzai, Senior Vice President Dr. Kamyar Khan, General Secretary Dr. Shoaib Baloch, Young Doctors Association Balochistan representatives Dr. Hafeez Mandokhail, Dr. Ali Jan, Dr. Adil, Dr. Muzammil, and Allied Health Organization representative Jamal Shah.
Speaking to the delegation, Chief Minister Bugti said the government is pursuing comprehensive healthcare reforms through continuous consultation with stakeholders to ensure better facilities for doctors, medical staff, and the general public.
He stated that, for the first time in the province’s history, the current government has granted large-scale promotions to doctors in recognition of their professional services. He added that the government is fully aware of the legitimate concerns of the medical community and remains committed to resolving them through constructive engagement and cooperation.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti described doctors as one of the most respected segments of society, entrusted with the noble responsibility of protecting human lives. He urged healthcare professionals to refrain from any actions that could create difficulties or suffering for poor and underprivileged patients, emphasizing that the timely provision of quality healthcare services remains the government’s foremost priority.
The chief minister further said that the government and the medical community would continue working together, based on mutual trust, cooperation, and ongoing consultation, to make the healthcare sector more effective, transparent, and people-centric.
The delegation thanked the chief minister for listening to the concerns of doctors, continuing the consultative process aimed at improving the healthcare sector, and assuring positive progress on their legitimate demands.
