ECP Orders Local Government Elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Without Delay
Election Schedule to Be Prepared Immediately for Districts Where Delimitation Is Complete; 12 Tribal Districts Excluded for Now

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ordered that local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa be held as soon as possible, directing the relevant wing to immediately submit an election schedule.
According to an order issued by the ECP, local government elections will be conducted in districts where the delimitation of constituencies has been completed in accordance with the law and relevant rules.
The commission has instructed the concerned electoral wing to prepare and submit a comprehensive election schedule without delay, emphasising the need to ensure the continuity of democracy at the grassroots level.
The order makes it clear that elections should proceed in districts where the delimitation process has been completed, rather than being delayed because of pending arrangements in other parts of the province.
However, the 12 tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been excluded from the current election process. Delimitation has not yet been completed in these districts, and local government elections will not be held there at this stage.
The ECP has also directed the relevant authorities to issue a fresh delimitation schedule for districts where the process remains incomplete.
The move is aimed at enabling local government elections to take place in phases and gradually restoring an effective local government system throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The commission’s directive signals that preparations for local government elections will move forward in districts where the required legal and administrative procedures have already been completed.
