Washington: In the ongoing election race, former President Donald Trump is currently ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris in both electoral and popular votes. Trump has garnered over 70 million votes, while Harris has received just over 65 million votes so far.
In the 2016 presidential election, Trump won the presidency based on the electoral vote, despite losing the popular vote. Hillary Clinton received nearly 66 million votes, while Trump secured around 63 million popular votes. However, Trump won 304 electoral votes compared to Clinton’s 227, which ultimately propelled him to the White House.
In the 2020 elections, Trump received 232 electoral votes, while Joe Biden won 306 electoral votes. Biden secured 81.2 million popular votes, while Trump received 74.2 million.
This year, the trend of Trump leading in popular votes continues, though the electoral vote count remains a critical factor in determining the final outcome.
