Experts Warn of Excessive Screen Time Impact on Children and Teenagers

Health experts in the United States have warned that excessive screen use among children and teenagers can lead to several physical, mental, and social problems.

According to medical experts, constant scrolling on social media, uninterrupted texting, and long hours of video gaming may result in poor sleep, reduced academic performance, decreased physical activity, and weakened social interaction.

In a recent advisory statement from the U.S. Surgeon General’s office, it has been recommended that screen time for children under 18 months should be completely avoided.

The guidance further suggests that children under the age of 6 should have less than one hour of screen exposure per day, while those aged 6 to 18 should limit screen time to a maximum of two hours daily.

Experts say the recommendations are aimed at protecting children from the harmful effects of excessive digital exposure and promoting healthier lifestyle habits.
