New Zealand Announces Skilled Migrant Resident Visa for Foreign Professionals

Islamabad: New Zealand has introduced a new opportunity for skilled foreign workers by launching the Skilled Migrant Resident Visa, offering a pathway to long-term residency and employment.
According to details, the visa allows qualified professionals from around the world to live, work, and study in New Zealand, while also enabling them to include their spouse and dependent children up to the age of 24.
Officials stated that applicants can stay in the country for an indefinite period under this visa. After two years, they may become eligible to apply for permanent residency, allowing unrestricted travel in and out of the country.
The initial application fee for the visa has been set at NZD 6,450.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet several key requirements:

Age should be 55 years or below

Must be in good health and have a clean character record

Proficiency in English is mandatory

Must have a full-time skilled job offer or current employment with an accredited employer

A minimum of 6 skilled points is required

Employment Conditions
Applicants must:

Work at least 30 hours per week

Hold a permanent job, a contract of at least 12 months, or a continuous 6-month contract

Meet minimum salary thresholds:

NZD 35 per hour for ANZSCO levels 1–3

NZD 52.50 per hour for levels 4–5

English Language Requirement

Receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) if eligible
