King Charles to Visit U.S. to Improve Ties with President Trump

Islamabad (Daily Qudrat): Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla will undertake an official visit to the United States at the end of April.

The visit comes as the British government seeks to restore relations with President Donald Trump, which had become strained due to regional tensions. According to the palace, the trip is part of a long-term plan and will coincide with the 250th anniversary celebrations of American independence, after which the royal couple will travel to Bermuda.

This will be the first state visit to the U.S. by a British monarch since 2007, when Queen Elizabeth made her fourth state visit during her reign.

President Trump stated that the royal visit will begin on April 27, with a state dinner at the White House scheduled for the following day. On Truth Social, he wrote, “I look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect. It will be fantastic.”

Relations between the two countries had been strained initially due to Britain’s initial refusal to grant access to U.S. military bases, though permission was later granted for defensive operations. Trump also criticized Keir Starmer, claiming he is “not Winston Churchill” and has historically weakened the close alliance.

The British government is now hopeful that 77-year-old King Charles will help ease the current tensions and strengthen bilateral ties.
