Trump Announces 10-Day Ceasefire Agreement Between Lebanon and Israel

Islamabad: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Lebanon and Israel have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, marking what he described as a significant step toward regional peace.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the ceasefire agreement was reached after what he called “excellent conversations” with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He stated that both leaders agreed to begin a formal 10-day ceasefire aimed at creating space for broader peace negotiations. According to Trump, the ceasefire took effect at 5 PM Washington time, which corresponds to 2 AM in Pakistan.
The former U.S. president also said that he instructed Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to work with both sides to help establish a more durable peace framework.
Trump claimed this would mark his tenth successful effort in halting conflicts worldwide, adding that he had previously helped stop nine wars.
In a follow-up statement, he said he plans to invite both Netanyahu and President Aoun to the White House for further discussions, describing it as the first meaningful engagement between the two sides since 1983.
He added that both parties had expressed willingness to pursue peace and that progress could be achieved quickly.
Earlier developments included Lebanon assuring the United Kingdom that arms would remain under state control, while Israel had repeatedly demanded the disarmament of Hezbollah as a condition for any ceasefire.
