Islamabad — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Pakistan’s top military leadership during his official visit to Pakistan, marking a key diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
According to a statement issued by the Iranian Embassy, Araghchi held his first formal meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Diplomatic sources said the meeting was also attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, National Security Adviser General Asim Malik, and the Director General of Military Intelligence.
On the Iranian side, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Ambassador to Islamabad Reza Amiri Moghaddam, and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei were also present.
The discussions reportedly focused on bilateral relations, regional security, and ongoing diplomatic contacts amid heightened regional tensions.
Araghchi arrived in Islamabad earlier with a small delegation and is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit. The trip is seen as part of broader efforts to maintain dialogue and coordination between Tehran and Islamabad.
