Attempt to Smuggle Over 29 Billion Iranian Rials Foiled in Karachi, Nine Arrested

Islamabad (News Desk) — Police in Karachi have foiled a major attempt to smuggle Iranian currency worth over 29 billion rials, arresting nine members of an alleged smuggling network.
According to police officials, the operation was carried out on Tuesday in the Keamari district, where Mochko police acted on intelligence reports and intercepted inter-provincial smugglers.
During the raid, authorities recovered 236 bundles of Iranian currency from two vehicles. The suspects had reportedly traveled to Karachi via Balochistan.
Police confirmed that nine individuals, including three women, were taken into custody. The arrested suspects include the alleged ringleader Asghar, along with Abdul Ghaffar, Taj Muhammad, Naseem, and others. The detained women were identified as Bibi Sahara, Gul Seema, and Bibi Afsana.
Officials stated that after initial interrogation, the suspects, seized currency, and vehicles used in the operation are being handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further legal action and investigation.
The successful operation marks a significant step in curbing cross-border smuggling activities in the region.
