PML-N MPA Demands Nawaz Sharif’s Picture on Currency Notes Alongside Quaid-e-Azam

Lahore: A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Provincial Assembly has made an unusual demand, calling for the inclusion of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s image on Pakistani currency notes alongside Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

According to details, during a session of the Punjab Assembly, MPA Arshad Malik expressed the demand while speaking on the floor of the house.
He stated that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah founded Pakistan, while Nawaz Sharif “saved the country” and played a key role in making it a nuclear power. He suggested that both leaders should be honored on Pakistan’s currency notes.
The remarks sparked attention as such statements by political figures have previously drawn controversy. Earlier in 2018, remarks by PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah also made headlines when he stated that Nawaz Sharif’s welcome was “greater than Hajj,” a comment made ahead of Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country during the general elections period.
