Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti Reviews Development Projects, Vows Strict Monitoring of Public Complaints

Quetta: Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the government is utilizing all available resources to resolve public issues and improve service delivery, adding that he will personally monitor the process of addressing public complaints.

He made these remarks while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review the progress of development projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Mir Saleem Khan Khosa and Mir Sadiq Umrani, along with Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and senior officials from various departments.

Officials briefed the meeting on several ongoing initiatives, including a project to provide fiber-optic internet connectivity to 1,100 educational institutions across Balochistan. The project is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within the next six months. Authorities said the initiative will promote digital learning and modern teaching facilities in schools and colleges.

The meeting was also informed that plans are under consideration to extend fiber-optic connectivity to all educational institutions, hospitals, and government offices across the province to support digital governance and improved public services.

Under the Enterprises Development Program, the government aims to connect 60,000 young people with employment and business opportunities through training in various sectors, which is expected to boost economic activity in the province.

Expressing displeasure over delays in the release of funds for the Peoples Train Service project, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete the initiative on a priority basis to provide better and safer transportation facilities to the public.

The meeting also discussed the establishment of complaint cells from the tehsil level to the provincial level to ensure the prompt resolution of public grievances. Bugti emphasized that the government would use every available resource to address citizens’ issues and ensure effective governance.

Officials also briefed the meeting on projects aimed at providing clean drinking water to all union councils in the province, improving municipal services through the supply of modern machinery to 95 municipal committees by June 30, and expanding school infrastructure.

In the education sector, work is underway to add two additional classrooms in 4,000 single-room schools. Authorities reported that over the past year, about 100,000 out-of-school children have been enrolled back into educational institutions.

The meeting was also informed about the ongoing operation against illegal poppy cultivation in the province, with authorities intensifying actions to destroy illegal crops and take legal measures against those involved.

The Chief Minister directed all departments to complete development projects by June 30 according to set targets, warning that unused funds from departments failing to meet deadlines would be reallocated to those performing efficiently. He stressed that timely completion of development projects, transparency, and quality work remain top priorities for the government.
