OIC and Bahrain Welcome ‘Mecca Joint Defence Agreement’, Express Full Support

RIYADH, MANAMA: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Bahrain have welcomed the joint defence agreement signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, expressing their full support for the strategic initiative.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha described the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement as a welcome development and praised the important strategic step taken by the three countries.

In his congratulatory message, the OIC secretary-general commended the wise leadership and tireless efforts of the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, which made the historic agreement possible.

He reiterated that the agreement holds key importance for peace and stability in the region and the wider Muslim world.

According to the OIC secretary-general, the agreement could serve as a fundamental pillar in supporting security and stability across the region and the Islamic world. He said it reflected the three countries’ shared commitment to addressing growing security challenges while promoting solidarity and constructive partnerships among member states.

Bahrain Welcomes the Defence Pact

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also welcomed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, highlighting the strong defence capabilities and military expertise of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

In a statement, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry described the agreement as an important addition to the broader regional defence system.

The ministry said the pact reflected the three countries’ established record of promoting regional security and stability and honouring their international commitments.

It added that the defence agreement would further strengthen and enhance the collective defence system of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) through greater solidarity and strategic integration.

Bahrain stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security was indispensable to its own security and expressed full support for all measures aimed at protecting national sovereignty.

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry also reaffirmed that the kingdom would continue to play its role in safeguarding regional integrity and promoting political solutions to regional disputes.
