Quetta Press Club Condemns Police Interference During Media Event

**Quetta:** The **Quetta Press Club** and **Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ)** have strongly condemned police interference inside the press club on March 2, where officers allegedly prevented journalists from covering a media talk organized by BYC, harassing them in the process.

In an emergency meeting, the leadership described the police action as a violation of **press freedom and freedom of expression**, emphasizing that media events in press clubs are a fundamental right for all citizens. They stated that no police intervention inside press club premises is justified anywhere in the world.

The joint statement highlighted previous incidents where the Quetta Press Club faced similar disruptions, including being locked, which had sparked protests and was addressed after assurances from the **Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti**.

The press club and BUJ leadership have demanded that the Chief Minister, **Additional Chief Secretary Interior Hamza Shafqat**, and **IG Police Balochistan** take immediate notice and initiate strict action against the involved officers. They also urged the government to implement concrete measures to protect the sanctity of press clubs and prevent any undue interference in the future.

The Quetta Press Club and BUJ leadership said they will announce their next course of action shortly.
