Flooding in Jacobabad Due to Canal Breach Displaces 8 Villages and Causes Widespread Damage
Jacobabad:A breach in the Begari Canal near Miranpur in Jacobabad’s Garhi Khairo tehsil has worsened, now spanning 120 feet wide and causing severe flooding in over eight villages. The breach initially measured 100 feet and has led to the inundation of agricultural land and significant property damage.
Despite notifying the Irrigation Department, no officials have arrived at the scene, exacerbating the damage and increasing the risk of further loss. Affected residents have protested against the Irrigation Department, expressing frustration over the lack of response. They reported that their homes and agricultural lands have been submerged, resulting in significant financial losses and displacement.
Residents are attempting to repair the breach on their own, but the high water flow is making it impossible to control the flooding. They are calling for immediate action to seal the breach and to compensate for their losses.
