No Further Extension in Winter Vacations Despite Severe Cold in Punjab: Education Minister

Lahore: Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has dismissed speculation regarding a further extension in winter vacations, clarifying that no decision has been taken to prolong school holidays for the coming week despite the prevailing cold weather.
Talking to the media, the provincial education minister said the government reviewed the situation in consultation with all relevant departments and there is no plan to extend winter vacations further. He acknowledged the concerns of parents and the media but stressed that the decision was made after careful assessment.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said the Punjab government, in coordination with the Environment Department and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), thoroughly reviewed weather forecasts and temperature data. Based on these assessments, it was decided that educational institutions would reopen as scheduled next week.
He informed that temperatures in Gujranwala are currently recorded between 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, while sub-zero temperatures are being experienced in Murree. Despite this, he emphasized that the health and safety of students and teachers remain the top priority.
The minister concluded by stating that after considering all aspects, it was decided that there would be no extension in winter vacations and schools will reopen normally next week.
