CM Bugti Frustrated Over Lengthy Speeches During Question Hour in Balochistan Assembly

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed frustration during the provincial assembly session over lengthy speeches and alleged violations of parliamentary procedures during the question hour.
The situation unfolded on Friday when Member of the Provincial Assembly Maulana Noorullah delivered an extended speech during the proceedings.
Addressing the house, the chief minister said that all assembly members were respected, but the question hour was limited to one hour and intended specifically for asking and answering questions. He pointed out that assembly rules permit only three supplementary questions for each query.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti said lawmakers should use adjournment motions if they wished to hold detailed debates on important matters. He added that attention notices were also meant only to draw attention and hear official responses, without lengthy discussions or supplementary questions.
The chief minister further stated that if Maulana Noorullah wanted a detailed discussion on mining issues, he could arrange a separate meeting with the provincial minister for minerals and the secretary of minerals.
He requested the speaker to ensure that the assembly proceedings were conducted according to parliamentary rules.
In response, the speaker said he intended to maintain a balance between parliamentary traditions and formal rules. He later ruled that one hour would be allocated during Monday’s session for a dedicated discussion on mineral-related matters.
Despite the ruling, Maulana Noorullah reportedly continued his speech afterward, prolonging the debate in the assembly.
