PTI Announces Nationwide Protests Against 27th Constitutional Amendment, Terms It a Threat to Provincial Autonomy

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily)** — The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a **nationwide protest movement** against the proposed **27th Constitutional Amendment**, calling it a direct assault on **provincial autonomy** and a violation of **democratic principles**. The party has vowed to stage demonstrations both **inside and outside Parliament** to oppose the legislation.

The decision was finalized during a **parliamentary party meeting** of PTI held on Thursday, chaired by **Barrister Gohar Ali Khan** and attended by senior party leaders, members of Parliament, and **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi**. The meeting reviewed the current political situation and discussed the potential impact of the amendment.

In an official statement issued after the meeting, PTI reaffirmed its commitment to **resisting the proposed changes on every forum**, emphasizing its role as the defender of the **Constitution and the rights of the federating units**. The statement asserted that no **unconstitutional amendment** would be allowed to pass under any circumstances.

The parliamentary group **unanimously resolved** to launch a robust campaign against the constitutional revision, while reiterating its demand for the **immediate appointment of the Leader of the Opposition** in both the National Assembly and the Senate to restore genuine democratic balance in the legislature.

A **resolution** was also passed during the session, urging the **federal and Punjab governments** to arrange a meeting between **PTI founder Imran Khan** and **Chief Minister Suhail Afridi** without further delay.

The party’s statement concluded with an appeal to all **democratic forces** to unite against unconstitutional actions, reiterating that the **1973 Constitution** is a **national consensus document** that must not be altered. It further maintained that the **current Parliament**, allegedly formed on the basis of **controversial Form-47 results**, lacks the **moral authority** to enact such far-reaching amendments.
