PTI Reschedules Martyrs’ Gathering in Peshawar, to Include Overseas Pakistanis
Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a change in the date and scope of the upcoming **Martyrs’ Gathering** in Peshawar, with the event now scheduled for **15th December**. Additionally, the gathering will be held not only in Pakistan but also in various countries overseas, where the expatriate Pakistani community will organize prayer ceremonies to honor the martyrs.
PTI sources revealed that party founder and former Prime Minister **Imran Khan** made the decision to reschedule the event. The martyrdom commemoration will now take place on **15th December** in Peshawar, and overseas Pakistanis will also hold special prayer gatherings in multiple countries on the same date.
Sources further clarified that the **Civil Disobedience Movement**, which was initially planned to begin on **14th December**, will now commence after the Martyrs’ Gathering.
Earlier, **Imran Khan** had announced on Twitter that a major gathering would be held in Peshawar on **13th December** to pay tribute to the martyrs. However, with the rescheduling, this gathering will now take place on **15th December**.
### Imran Khan’s Statement on Martyrs and State Terrorism
In his earlier tweet, Imran Khan had stated that **”A dictatorship has been established in the country.”** He highlighted the issue of state-sponsored violence, claiming that **”innocent political activists were shot at, and peaceful political workers were martyred.”** He further mentioned that hundreds of PTI workers were still missing, calling on the **Supreme Court** to take notice of these violations and fulfill its constitutional role.
Imran Khan expressed concern over the lack of action from the courts, noting that despite PTI’s earlier efforts to bring human rights violations to the attention of the **Supreme Court**, **Lahore High Court**, and **Islamabad High Court**, no action had been taken, leading the country to its current state of crisis.
### Call for Political Dialogue
Imran Khan also revealed that a **five-member negotiation committee** was being formed with two key demands:
1. **Release of under-trial political prisoners**.
2. Establishment of a **judicial commission** to investigate the events of **9th May** and **26th November**.
The committee will consist of **Omar Ayub Khan**, **Ali Amin Gandapur**, **Sahebzada Hamid Raza**, **Salmam Akram Raja**, and **Asad Qaiser**. They are tasked with negotiating with stakeholders, and if these two demands are not met, PTI will launch its **Civil Disobedience Movement** on **14th December**.
### Civil Disobedience Movement and Its Impact
Imran Khan reiterated that the **Civil Disobedience Movement** will aim to **limit remittances** from overseas Pakistanis and initiate a **boycott campaign**. He emphasized that if the government fails to address PTI’s demands, the movement will escalate in phases, with the second phase taking more direct action.
The **15th December** Martyrs’ Gathering, now a significant event both in Pakistan and internationally, will be the first step in PTI’s push for political and constitutional change, and will set the stage for the **Civil Disobedience Movement** to follow. Imran Khan has made it clear that the responsibility for any consequences will lie with the government.
