Pakistan to Host Historic US-Iran Peace Deal Signing in Switzerland on June 19

ISLAMABAD/BERN:** The venue for the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States has been changed from Geneva to the Swiss resort town of Bürgenstock, with the ceremony now scheduled for June 19.
According to Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Bürgenstock, located near Lucerne in central Switzerland, was selected due to its remote and mountainous terrain, which is considered more suitable for security arrangements.
Swiss officials said the proposal to shift the venue was supported by Pakistani and Qatari mediators, as well as by both the United States and Iran.
Sources revealed that the historic peace agreement ceremony will be hosted by Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to depart for Switzerland on Thursday, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and senior federal ministers.
Iran will reportedly be represented by Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf at the signing ceremony.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump indicated that he might attend the event, while suggesting that Vice President J.D. Vance would likely represent the United States at the formal signing.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Doha remained actively involved in the negotiation process alongside Pakistan. Qatari representatives, Pakistani mediators, the two negotiating parties, and officials from regional countries are expected to attend the ceremony.
The agreement is being viewed as a significant diplomatic breakthrough aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran, with Pakistan and Qatar playing key roles in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.
