Iran Announces Resumption of International Flights, Istanbul and Muscat Routes to Start from Saturday

Islamabad: Iran has announced the resumption of international passenger flights from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport following a recent ceasefire, marking a gradual return to normal air operations.
According to Iranian authorities, flights to Istanbul and Muscat will resume from Saturday, April 25. Other domestic and international routes will be restored in phases based on demand and operational approvals.
Ramin Kashaf Azar, head of Imam Khomeini Airport City, told Iranian media that air operations, which were suspended due to conflict, are now being restored as part of post-war recovery efforts. He confirmed that all airport infrastructure and navigation systems are fully operational.
He further stated that during the ceasefire period, the airport had been used exclusively for cargo operations, but passenger facilities have now been fully reinstated.
Iran’s national airline had already resumed limited domestic operations earlier this month, with a flight from Tehran to Mashhad marking the beginning of restored services, which are now being expanded.
Officials noted that Iran’s airspace was significantly affected following reported US and Israeli strikes earlier this year and subsequent retaliatory actions. However, after a ceasefire agreement facilitated through diplomatic efforts in early April, conditions have started returning to normal.
Reports also suggest that recent diplomatic engagements, including discussions held in Islamabad, have contributed to easing regional tensions and supporting the gradual restoration of international connectivity.
