Sindh Governor, Minister Address Fuel Prices, Highlight Economic Measures and Railway Upgrades

In Karachi, Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi clarified that recent increases in petrol prices were not imposed by the provincial government. Speaking at the inauguration of refurbished coaches of the Sukkur Express at a cantonment station, he stated that government promises are being fulfilled, noting that the train has a capacity of 1,100 passengers and that development is proceeding within available resources.
Governor Hashmi emphasized that petrol price hikes are linked to global market fluctuations, and not the provincial administration. He added that development spending has been curtailed and leadership efforts are ongoing to promote regional peace, with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Field Marshal actively involved.
Meanwhile, Sindh Provincial Minister Nasir Hussain Shah praised the upgraded Sukkur Express, highlighting modernization within Pakistan Railways. Speaking on national economic matters, he noted that the federal government had been absorbing some of the fuel cost burden instead of passing it entirely to the public. He warned that if all costs were transferred, petrol prices could reach Rs600 per litre.
Shah also mentioned that 60% of vehicles were temporarily halted, petrol rationed, and salaries reduced to mitigate economic pressures. He cautioned that ongoing regional conflicts could worsen conditions and stressed that Pakistan’s efforts to reduce tension have earned international recognition, including in Iran.
