Study Finds Soy and Pulses May Help Reduce High Blood Pressure Risk

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – A new study has suggested that consuming soy products and pulses may help lower the risk of high blood pressure.

The research, based on an analysis of 12 different studies, found a possible direct link between the consumption of soy and pulses and a reduced risk of hypertension.

The study, published this month in the journal BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health, was conducted by Plant-Based Health Professionals UK with the support of Dr. Dagfinn Aune of Imperial College London. The studies included in the analysis involved participant numbers ranging from 1,152 to 88,475 individuals.

Researchers aimed to determine whether there was any association between the intake of pulses and soy products and the likelihood of developing high blood pressure.

The findings revealed that individuals who consumed higher amounts of pulses and soy were comparatively less likely to suffer from hypertension.

Experts said the results further strengthen existing evidence supporting greater consumption of pulses as part of a healthy diet.
