Severe Heatwave Continues Across Punjab and Sindh as Temperatures Soar Above 50°C

ISLAMABAD:** Most plain areas of Punjab and Sindh continue to experience extreme heat, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warning that the ongoing heatwave is likely to persist until Sunday.
According to the Met Office, the highest temperature recorded on Friday was 51°C in Dadu and Jacobabad, making them the hottest locations in the country.
Several other cities also witnessed exceptionally high temperatures. Sibi, Turbat, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, and Mohenjo-daro recorded temperatures of 50°C, while Khairpur and Sakrand reached 49°C.
In Punjab, Dera Ghazi Khan recorded 47°C, while Lahore experienced a maximum temperature of 44°C. The federal capital, Islamabad, also saw temperatures exceeding 40°C.
Meanwhile, the Met Office said that Karachi is expected to remain hot, with temperatures likely to rise to around 38°C today.
Authorities have advised the public to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, and stay adequately hydrated as the intense heatwave continues across large parts of the country.
