Iftar Spreads Set Up at Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi as Ramadan Begins

Mecca & Medina, Saudi Arabia: Millions of worshippers and pilgrims broke their fasts at sunset on the first day of Ramadan at Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina. The occasion saw a massive gathering of Muslims observing the holy month.
According to Saudi news agencies, the tradition of setting up iftar spreads in the Two Holy Mosques dates back centuries, reflecting the spiritual essence of Ramadan. Reports said the iftar tables extended across courtyards, porticoes, rooftops, and expansion areas, symbolizing Islamic brotherhood and unity.
Staff deployed at the mosques efficiently cleared the spreads immediately after iftar, completing cleaning and arrangements in record time.
It is noted that every year, with the start of Ramadan, the mosque administrations organize iftar for thousands of worshippers under a regulated permit system.
