Shahid Afridi Permanently Shifts from Karachi to Islamabad, Shares Reasons

Islamabad: Former Pakistan cricket captain and renowned all-rounder Shahid Afridi has permanently relocated from Karachi to Islamabad, citing personal reasons behind the move.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Jang at his new residence in Islamabad, Afridi said he wants to see Pakistan emerge as a rapidly progressing country, emphasizing that continuity is the most fundamental element for national development.
Confirming his relocation, the former captain stated that due to certain personal reasons, he decided to leave Karachi and settle in Islamabad on a permanent basis.
Afridi remarked that Pakistan and Pakistan cricket have given him respect, recognition, and identity across the world, and he now wishes to give something back to the country and its cricketing system.
Addressing speculation about politics, Afridi clarified that he has no plans to enter politics at present. He said the government should be allowed to complete its constitutional five-year term, and all key constitutional officeholders, including the Chief Justice and the Army Chief, should also be permitted to serve their full tenures.
He further revealed that he had been offered important government positions in the past but chose to avoid them, adding that ceremonial or symbolic roles hold no appeal for him.
Afridi stressed that continuity in policies, the democratic process, and completion of constitutional tenures of state institutions form the foundation of sustainable development. He said that when institutions complete their terms, policies remain consistent, and the benefits of progress reach the common citizen more quickly.
