Double-Decker Bus Service Launched in Karachi, Fare Announced

Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, along with Provincial Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah, has inaugurated the double-decker bus service in Karachi, marking another step toward improving public transport in the city.
According to a private TV channel, Geo News, officials briefed Sharjeel Inam Memon on the features of the newly launched buses during the inauguration ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, the senior minister said the government had promised the public double-decker buses and was introducing projects aimed at benefiting the maximum number of citizens.
Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the double-decker bus route spans 22 kilometers, with fares ranging between Rs80 and Rs120. Initially, the service will operate from Malir to Shahrah-e-Faisal. He added that efforts are underway to expand the service so that double-decker buses can be seen operating on major roads across the city.
He further said that the government is providing subsidies on bus fares and is continuously working to enhance public facilities on a daily basis. “Our goal is to extend improved transport facilities across Sindh in the new year,” he added.
The minister informed that more than 125,000 passengers travel daily on the Peoples Bus Service, while around 65,000 commuters use the Green Line bus service. He also noted that work on the Red Line BRT has resumed.
Highlighting development initiatives, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that collective efforts are being made to improve Karachi’s roads, a budget of Rs9 billion has been allocated for industrial areas, and Shahrah-e-Bhutto has been completed as a state-of-the-art project for the people of Karachi.
