Pakistan Army Has No Interest in Political Dialogue: DG ISPR
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif denies any backchannel contact with PTI founder

Rawalpindi – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has categorically denied any backchannel communication between the Pakistan Army and the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In an interview with a British broadcaster, DG ISPR stated that the military has no interest in engaging in dialogue with political parties, asserting that political matters should be resolved by politicians themselves.
“We are not Balochi, Sindhi, or Punjabi—we are one nation,” he said, emphasizing national unity and adding that the people of Balochistan are with Pakistan. “Balochistan is the crown of our nation,” he remarked, while rejecting narratives fueled by external forces. “Those spreading false assumptions are earning a living off Indian money,” he added.
Addressing the security situation, Lt. Gen. Sharif highlighted that terrorists are targeting developmental efforts in Balochistan and are killing innocent civilians. “When these terrorists confront us, we eliminate them,” he said. He dismissed the notion that anti-Pakistan sentiments prevail in Balochistan, calling it a misperception.
He also urged the interim Afghan government to take action against foreign militants and refrain from supporting them.
Commenting on the issue of missing persons, the DG ISPR noted that a government-led commission is actively working to trace every individual. “The law does not permit enforced disappearances. It is wrong to abduct anyone from their home,” he affirmed.
