MQM-P Backs Aleem Khan’s Proposal for Creation of New Provinces

Karachi: The demand for the creation of new provinces in Pakistan has gained renewed momentum, with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) announcing its support for the proposal put forward by Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party chief Abdul Aleem Khan.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with a private TV channel, MQM-P senior leader and Member of the National Assembly Ameen-ul-Haq said that the establishment of new provinces is no longer merely a political slogan but has become an essential requirement for addressing public issues effectively.

He said Pakistan should have at least 12 provinces to ensure better governance and efficient administrative management. Citing examples, Ameen-ul-Haq noted that countries such as India, Bangladesh, and others expanded their administrative units to improve governance and public service delivery.

Acknowledging that the issue of new provinces has historically been controversial in Pakistan, he said current circumstances demand a fresh approach to administrative restructuring. He emphasized that his true homeland is Pakistan, not any single province, and said citizens should not be forced to travel to major cities to resolve basic issues.

He added that residents of areas such as Larkana and other regions should not have to rely on cities like Karachi for the resolution of their problems. According to MQM-P, the creation of new provinces across the country—not just in Punjab and Sindh—is necessary to ensure fair resource distribution, improved governance, and greater public convenience.
