“We Don’t Seek War, But Will Not Shy Away from Sacrifice: Pakistani Ambassador’s Interview with Newsweek”

Washington:Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, stated in an exclusive interview with renowned American magazine Newsweek that Pakistan desires peace with dignity, not conflict. However, if national honor must be defended, the Pakistani nation is ready to make any sacrifice.
Ambassador Sheikh emphasized that Pakistan expects the Trump administration to play a constructive role in resolving the Kashmir issue. He praised President Donald Trump’s commitment to ending global conflicts and establishing lasting peace, calling it “commendable.”
He warned that the current situation in Kashmir has become the most dangerous flashpoint between two nuclear-armed nations. The ambassador reiterated that sustainable peace in South Asia is not possible until the Kashmir issue is resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
During the interview, Sheikh dismissed Indian accusations of terrorism against Pakistan as illogical and politically motivated. He highlighted that Pakistan has been one of the biggest victims of terrorism and has always maintained a clear stance against it. Referring to the Pulwama incident, he called it a false flag operation by India.
He further stated that Pakistan seeks a peaceful and prosperous region, as economic development is not possible without regional peace. Utilizing its strategic geographical location, Pakistan is striving for economic prosperity and connectivity.
Ambassador Sheikh also condemned India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a blatant violation of its clauses. He asserted that India cannot shift the burden of its internal failures, oppressive policies, or electoral needs onto Pakistan.
