Vivian Richards Criticizes ICC Over Champions Trophy Schedule and Logistical Issues

Former West Indies captain, Vivian Richards, has strongly criticized the ICC over issues related to the schedule and logistics of the Champions Trophy.
In a media conversation, Richards expressed his views saying, “In my opinion, this is happening due to politics, but I won’t comment on politics. The issue lies with the ICC, which is responsible for the regulations and arrangements.”
He further questioned the ICC’s accountability, stating, “If the ICC is responsible, I want to know why this is happening.”
Richards emphasized the unifying power of sports, saying, “I firmly believe that if there is one thing that can unite fans and even rivals, it is the game itself.”
It is worth noting that the Champions Trophy, which is being hosted by Pakistan, has faced difficulties due to India’s insistence on playing the event at a neutral venue, causing problems with the schedule and logistics for the teams and the ICC.
Previously, the semi-finalists from Group B, Australia and South Africa, faced a challenging situation as both teams had to travel to Dubai.
An ICC spokesperson mentioned that this decision was made to help the two semi-finalist teams from Group B to acclimatize before their potential knockout match against the 2013 champions, scheduled for March 4.
