Pakistan-India Conflict Could Escalate into Full-Scale War, Warns Defence Minister Khawaja Asif

Islamabad – Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong warning that any attack from India will be met with an equivalent response, and that escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations could potentially lead to a full-scale war. In an interview with British broadcaster Sky News, Asif emphasized that the international community should be seriously concerned about the possibility of a nuclear conflict.
Dismissing allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in the recent Pahalgam attack, in which 26 tourists were killed, Asif described the incident as a “false flag operation” orchestrated by India. He reiterated that Pakistan had no role in the incident and condemned the accusation as baseless.
“The Pakistani military is fully prepared to deal with any situation,” said Asif, adding, “If there is a full-fledged attack, there will be a full-fledged war.” He stressed that Pakistan will respond proportionally to any Indian aggression and warned of devastating consequences if tensions spiral out of control.
While expressing hope that the conflict could be resolved through dialogue, Asif cautioned that continued provocations and hostility could lead to catastrophic outcomes. “We will respond to any Indian misadventure with full force. The world must not ignore the gravity of conflict between two nuclear-armed nations,” he added.
The Defence Minister concluded by saying that Pakistan remains committed to peace but will not tolerate any violation of its sovereignty.
